Doctors

Tung N. Giep, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Giep is the president and founder of NICS. He received his medical degree and completed his residency at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. His fellowship was completed at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Giep is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Mary Judith Allen, D.O.

Dr. Allen received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from NovaSoutheastern University College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and completed her fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. Her experience as a neonatologist and pediatric hospitalist culminated in her most recent role as the Director of Neonatology at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio. Dr. Allen also has an extensive background in nursing, where she has more than 20 years of experience in both hospital and academic environments. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Florida State and Georgia Southern Universities.

Arun Amaram, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Amaram received his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He completed his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, and completed his pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital in New York, where he was honored as "Senior Resident of the Year." As a Clinical Assistant Professor at Wayne State University, he taught a variety of neonatology- and pediatric-focused courses to fellows and residents. Dr. Amaram is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Felicia Baxter, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Baxter received her medical degree from the University of Florida, and has more than 10 years of experience as a pediatric hospitalist. She completed her residency and internship at the Children's Medical Center of Dallas (University of Texas Southwestern College of Medicine). Dr. Baxter is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified in pediatrics.

Joel Bonaparte, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Bonaparte received his medical degree and completed his residency at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, Weill Medical College at Cornell University. His fellowship was completed at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Bonaparte is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Amarnath Chamkur, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Chamkur received his medical degree from Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College in India. He completed his residency at Nassau University Medical Center is East Meadow, New York and his fellowship at Lutheran General Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Dr. Chamkur is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Christina Chamberlain, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Chamberlain received her medical degree and completed her pediatric residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She completed neonatology fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Dr. Chamberlain is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Rachel B. Gandre, M.D.

Dr. Gandre oversees the Cy-Fair Medical Center Hospital newborn nursery, is a member of the 24/7 staff, and covers in-house admissions for pediatric patients. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas as well as completing her residency there. Dr. Gandre has also worked at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, Lyndon Baines Johnson General Hospital, MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital and UT Physicians Kid’s Place. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Zahid Hasan, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Hasan received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine and his residency in general pediatrics at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. Dr. Hasan is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified.

Stella Uzumma Kalu, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Kalu oversees the Cy-Fair Medical Center Hospital newborn nursery, is a member of the 24/7 staff, and covers in-house admissions for pediatric patients. She received her medical degree from the University of Nigeria Medical School and completed her pediatric residency at the Marshfield Clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wisconsin, before becoming chief resident there. She is board certified in pediatrics.

Susan E. Keeney, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Keeney received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas, where she also completed her residency in pediatrics. She has also served as an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UTMB.

Jack D. McGowan, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. McGowan received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. His fellowship was completed at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Dr. McGowan is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Kamel Mostafa, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Mostafa received his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College at the University of Punjab in Pakistan. He completed his pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and completed his neonatology/ICU fellowship at UMass Memorial in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Mostafa is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Oluyemisi Oyafemi, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Oyafemi received her medical degree from the University of Jos in Nigeria. She completed her residency at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center in Bronx, New York, followed with a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Oyafemi is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Elizabeth Ann Roseberry, M.D., F.A.A.P

Dr. Roseberry received her medical degree and completed her residency at University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston (UTMB). She also completed her fellowship in neonatal/perinatal medicine at UTMB. Dr. Roseberry is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal/perinatal medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Fellow), Texas Medical Association and American Medical Association.

Kwabena Sarpong, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Sarpong received his medical degree from the School of Medical Sciences, University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his residency at Harlem Hospital Center in New York, New York. Dr. Sarpong is board certified in pediatrics.

Sangeetha Shankar, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Shankar received her degrees in medicine and surgery from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India. Prior to joining Conroe Regional Hospital, Dr. Shankar completed her pediatric residency at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio and developed the pediatric hospitalist program at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Florida, which now boasts a Level II pediatric intermediate care unit and a developing Level II NICU. She is board certified in pediatrics and holds dual medical licenses in Florida and Texas.

Mark Solomon, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Solomon received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston and completed his fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. His extensive experience includes working as a pediatric hospitalist and pediatric pulmonologist at a variety of hospitals across Texas and Washington, most recently at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington. He also has served as an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Solomon is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified in pediatrics.

Ronald Tyrus, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Tyrus received his medical degree from the University of California in San Francisco. He completed his residency at the Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York, followed with a fellowship in neonatology at the University of California in Los Angeles. Dr. Tyrus is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Wansheng Wang, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Wang attended medical school at Jiangxi Medical College and a Master of Medical Science program at Shanghai Medical University. His experience includes serving as a pediatric physician at the Children's Hospital at Shanghai Medical University and in the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University at El Paso. In addition to a board certification in pediatrics, Dr. Wang holds dual medical licenses in Texas and New Mexico and is fluent in both English and Chinese.

Irene R. Alegre, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Irene received her master’s degree in nursing from Texas Woman’s University in Houston, Texas and her post-master’s specialization as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She is certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Critical Care Nurse and credentialed through the National Certification Corporation. She is also a member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

Michelle Boudreaux, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Michelle received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from LaSalle University, in Pennsylvania, graduating Cum Laude. She is board certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, credentialed through the National Certification Corporation, and is a Regional NRP Instructor. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the FANNP.

Barbara Lynn Bruner, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Barbara received her master’s degree in nursing from Northwestern State University, and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She is board certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Instructor, and credentialed through the National Certification Corporation.

Elizabeth Clark, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Elizabeth received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She is board certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, credentialed through the National Certification Corporation. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Academy for Neonatal Nursing and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

Julia Clowers, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Julia received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of the Texas at Arlington. She is board certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and credentialed through the National Certification Corporation. She is also a member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

Aimee received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas School of Nursing and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She is certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.

Roy Evans, N.N.P.

Roy Evans received his master's degree and specialization as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from Arizona State University, in addition to a bachelor's degree in nursing from Grand Canyon University. His medical experience spans nearly 20 years, including neonatal nursing experience at Banner Desert Medical Center, Phoenix Children's Hospital and, most recently, Neonatology Associates in Phoenix, Arizona. He is credentialed through the National Certification Corporation.

Sheri Gersch, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Sheri received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She is board certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, credentialed through the National Certification Corporation, and is a NRP Instructor. She is a member of the Academy for Neonatal Nursing and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

Mary Hall, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Mary received her master’s degree from Baylor University in Dallas, Texas and her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern State University. She is board certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She is a S.T.A.B.L.E. lead instructor, a member of the Texas Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and has practiced in neonatology for the past 25 years, the last 5 as an N.N.P.

Bridget Hite, M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Bridget received her master’s degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is certified in Advanced Practice Nurses and as a Neonatal Nurse Practioner, NRP Instructor and PALS Provider.

Gina M. Heiss-Harris, D.N.P., N.N.P.-B.C.

Gina received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Clayton College & State University in Morrow, Georgia. She is certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She also holds committee membership as a journal peer reviewer for Advances in Neonatal Care and is an active Neonatal Resuscitation Instructor.

Monica received her master’s in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating Cum Laude. She is board certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and credentialed through the National Certification Corporation. Michael Lanclos, R.N., M.S.N., N.N.P.-B.C.

Michael Lanclos received his master's degree and specialization as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from Northwest State University in Shreveport, Louisiana, and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana. He has more than 20 years of medical experience, including as a paramedic, flight nurse, emergency department nurse and NICU nurse. He is board certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
