What is RSV?
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common, highly-contagious virus. It infects half of all children during
their first year of life, and, by age five, many children have been infected at least once. While most infections
are mild, RSV can cause severe illness in premature infants or full-term infants with chronic lung disease or
heart problems. More than 100,000 infants are hospitalized each year due to severe illness, such as
pneumonia, caused by RSV.

Synagis® is an injection for pre-mature babies to help prevent RSV. It is given monthly during RSV season
(October through March). Our Synagis® injection clinics specifically address the complexities of Synagis®
administration and treatment management. We have numerous locations throughout Houston and surrounding
areas such as Baytown, Beaumont, Bellaire, Conroe, Cy-Fair, Katy, Pasadena, Port Arthur, Richmond,
Sugar Land, and The Woodlands.

RSV Prevention:
  • Good hand washing technique before picking up baby
  • Keep baby away from crowds and anyone with a cold
  • Synagis injections from October-March
RSV Symptoms:
  • Begins with runny nose and congestion
  • Progresses with persistent cough, rapid breathing (respirations 40-60 breaths/minute)
  • Wheezing (whistling sound when breathing)
If you would like your baby to receive Synagis, speak to your pediatrician about it and have him/her refer you to our clinics.
